Group Exercise Guidelines

THE GYM is opening with a limited Group Exercise schedule and class capacity as per state and government regulations.

  • All classes will be held in the main Group Exercise room.

  • The Spin Studio is open.

  • The Soft Studio is open.

  • Class variety and equipment may be limited as per guidelines and to ensure proper sanitation.

  • Reservations are required for ALL classes via THE GYM app, by calling the Customer Service Desk, or in person.

  • Sign-ups for class will be 24 hours in advance.

  • Please be in the class room 5 minutes before the start of class.

  • Walk-ins will be available after all pre-registered members are accounted for or at 5 minutes before the start of class.

  • Please be considerate regarding cancellations to members since we are limited in the number of people in a class.

  • If you need to cancel please do so within 4 hours of class so that someone from the waitlist can take your spot.

  • To ensure the enjoyment of group exercise classes for all members, failure to adhere by the cancellation policy may result in the inability to pre-register for classes.

  • Please maintain all social distancing protocols while waiting for class.

  • Masks must be worn at all times-before, during and after class.

  • Please maintain 6 feet apart at all times in order to maintain social distancing.

  • Equipment will be set out for you at the beginning of class.

  • Please leave all equipment in place after class.  THE GYM Team will sanitize and return all equipment.

  • Classes will be spaced 30 minutes apart to allow time for instructors and our cleaning crew to sanitize equipment with a virus-killing disinfectant.

  • Water fountains will be unavailable at this time for safety, bring your own water or you can purchase one at Customer Service.


  • Stay home if you’re feeling ill.
  • A mask must be worn when walking into the club and in class as per government code. Masks are available for purchase at the Customer Service Desk.
  • We will be taking temperature checks for all members and staff when entering the club.

We Are The Cleaners

The entire GYM Staff is now part of our housekeeping team. Every team member is equipped with a bottle of disinfectant, a towel, and all the necessary training on best-in-class cleaning techniques. Our cleaning staff just got even better!

We Are The Perfect Size

Our space is the perfect size.  Not too big that we can’t keep it sanitized.  Not too small that we don’t have enough space.  We will be maintaining all social distancing protocols to ensure everyone has enough space to feel safe!

More Cleaning Supplies Than Ever

You will find hand sanitizer stations, disinfectant wipes and spray bottles throughout all areas of the club.  Feel free to use all of the above!

Fever Free Environment

We are taking the temperature of every person entering the club, ensuring we are all below the fever threshold of 100.4 degrees. The club is equipped with contact-free thermometers, which we will use as you check in. And that includes us too!

Touchless Check-in

Check-in is touchless and contact free.  Simply sanitize your hands, scan your tag and you are good to go.  Our Customer Service Team is safely tucked behind our plexiglass shields to help if needed.  Credit card machines are touchless and registration iPads are needed, rest assured they are sanitized after every use.

Personal Protective Equipment

All associates & members are required to wear a mask at all times while in the building.

Extra Safety Measures

THE GYM was Freshly Disinfected by our friends at Advanced Electrostatic Disinfecting.

All of the chemicals used were EPA Certified and NON-TOXIC for our environment. The electrostatic delivery system used is the most advanced on the planet. By using inductive charging sprayers they have GUARANTEED us full surface coverage!

Indoor Air/Ventilation:

  • Merv-13 Air Filters have been installed.

  • Additional Air purification using REME Halo and/or PHI UV sterilization systems.

  • HVAC has been inspect and evaluated to ensure that the system is operating within its design specifications.

  • Routine maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer is being followed.

  • Increased the volume of outdoor air to the maximum capacity while the gym is occupied.

  • Reduce the volume of recirculated air being returned to the indoor spaces.

  • Increase the volume of air being delivered to the indoor spaces to the maximum capacity.

  • HVAC unit runs continuously while THE GYM is occupied as well as before and after occupancy.

1-2 Cleaning Approach

This is our cleaning philosophy. The first line of defense is you–please make sure to wipe down equipment after you use it. The second is our professional staff, who will constantly clean all club equipment throughout the day.

Notifications of Positive Cases

In the event of a positive case of COVID-19, THE GYM shall notify the Englewood Health Department and assist them to advise likely contacts to self-quarantine. Testing of other workers and members may be recommended consistent with CDC or NJDOH guidance and/ or at the request of the Englewood Health Department.  THE GYM will cooperate with the investigation of a suspected or confirmed case and advised all Staff and members to cooperate with the investigation and/or recommendation for testing.

Member Etiquette

  • Please do not come to the club if you feel sick.
  • Please be respectful of social distance guidelines while at the club, for yourself and others.
  • Please practice proper hand washing while at the club.
  • Please wipe down the equipment and spaces you use after you are done.
  • Be prepared to have your temperature taken when you arrive. In order to keep our clubs fever-free, we will restrict entry if your temperature is above 100.3.
  • In light of capacity restrictions and our commitment to our member experience, we will temporarily not permit guests at the club.

What We Are Using

H2 Orange2

THE GYM uses H2 Orange2 as its standard cleaning fluid in the club. This premium, patented original formula combines cold-pressed Orange Oil and hydrogen peroxide to clean, deodorize and sanitize any water-safe surface. Sanitizing Wipes

CLUB WIPES USA SANITIZING PREMOISTENED WIPES. All fitness areas throughout our facilities have readily available, regularly spaced disinfectant wipes for members’ use. Club wipes are Extra-Strength QuatFormula. They Kill 99.9%+ Bacteria of Germs. Board Certified Dermatologist Tested & Approved- Non-Sensitizer nor Irritant to Skin Wet Wipes Cleans & Sanitizes. Alcohol Free | Bleach Free

Hand Sanitizer Stations

Hand sanitizer stations are located throughout THE GYM, in most instances offering touchless application of sanitizing solution. These alcohol-based sanitizers provide in excess of 70% ethyl alcohol, killing more than 99.99% of the most common germs in as little as 15 seconds. We have increased the visibility and quantity of these stations throughout our facilities, including at club check in and on all fitness floors.

Enhanced Policies

Below you will find the most recent policies on all services offered during this time, as well as the status on some of the services that are currently unavailable.

Exercise Floor

Strength benches and free weights will be spaced to allow for appropriate physical distancing, where possible. Otherwise, we will rely on members to practice safe physical distancing.
Stretching areas will feature floor markings to indicate 6’ spacing from the next member.
Disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer stations will be clearly sign marked and available throughout all fitness areas.
Members will be expected to wipe down each piece of equipment before and after each use. This practice will be supplemented by our housekeeping and fitness staff through the 1-2 Cleaning Approach.
THE GYM Staff will be readily visible in all fitness areas, providing periodic cleaning and assurance of proper physical distancing.

Personal Training

Partner training sessions will be offered.

THE GYM Trainers will be proactively managing the floor during your session to ensure proper physical distancing.


Pilates partner sessions will not be offered in stage one.

Only two sessions will be allowed in the studio at one time to ensure proper physical distancing.


Partner training sessions will be offered.

Removed communal gloves. Members to bring their own gloves or shadow box if they do not have gloves.


  • Associates will wear PPE while administering treatments.
  • Treatments will be scheduled with 30 minutes in between to allow proper time to sanitize the room.
  • All equipment and surfaces will be sanitized between uses.
  • Treatments will be selectively available.
  • All products will be handled by associates only.


The CAGE is available to members and Trainers.

Locker Rooms

Locker rooms will be available.

  • Selectively reduce lockers to maximize physical distancing – kindly maintain a 6 foot separation from your neighbor.
  • Removal of communal amenities such as hair dryers and grooming products.

Steam & Suana

Steam and sauna facilities will be shut down until we are given the green light to open them.

Juice Bar

The Juice Bar is Now Open.

  • Cooler drinks and protein bars are available for sale.

Preparing Our Team

We Are Committed to You

Every GYM Team Member is a vital component in creating safe facilities for our members and other associates. We hold high expectations for our teams, and they rise to the challenge. All GYM Team Members are expected to adhere to the following listed below.

  • Everyone is in housekeeping. All staff regardless of position will be entrusted to provide clean and sanitized spaces. This will include wiping all counters and surfaces after use, cleaning equipment and studio spaces.

  • Personal trainers and fitness instructors will be cleaning and sanitizing after themselves and their clients

  • All Staff will receive training and re-training on the proper means and methods for cleaning products and expectations for cleanliness, sanitation and the materials we are using to get the job done!

  • All Staff will receive training on COVID-19 safety. Correct hygiene and frequent hand-washing is vital to help combat the spread of COVID-19.

  • All Staff will be expected to practice good hygiene and wash their hands at least every 60 minutes and after any and all of the following, sneezing, coughing, blowing the nose, touching the face, smoking, eating, drinking, before/after shifts, before/after breaks and after completing any cleaning.

  • All Staff will be expected to wear PPE in so far as required by local and state government guidance and best practices.

  • All Staff will receive mandatory training on how to properly use, handle and dispose of PPE.

  • All Staff will have their temperatures taken before their shift. Any Staff member measuring a fever (higher than 100.3) will be asked to return home.
