Through Dance your child will build confidence, self esteem and self discipline, while enjoying a wonderful learning experience and making new friends in a clean and friendly environment. Your children will develop a positive attitude as they reach new levels of accomplishment; they will be able to face life's daily challenges with more self- assurance and enthusiasm. Here at THE GYM, children will learn the curriculum for their class; not so much on a strict level, but rather an effective and encouraging level taught in a friendly and fun atmosphere. We feel it is necessary for your children to enjoy dance, and at the same time educate them so they will build confidence and passion needed for an enjoyable experience. We hope you will join us and "Just Dance" !!!
CLASSES OFFERED
Hip Hop – Hip Hop is a high-energy class that uses the latest music together with movements influenced by some of today's hottest recording artists. Hip hop encompasses movement that has elements of poppin', locking, and breaking as well as freestyle movement to give students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style. Students must wear sneakers, and comfortable clothing NO JEANS!
Modern Ballet- Modern Ballet is a contemporary dance form that has its vocabulary roots in ballet and endless and creative motion that draws on each student's personal expression. Students must wear leotard, dance pants or stockings, and ballet slippers.
Jazz- Jazz Classes will teach basic jazz dance technique, terminology, and movement quality, with an emphasis on proper execution of jazz isolations, rhythms, and style. Students must wear dance pants and fitted tops or leotard, jazz shoes are required.
Lyrical- Lyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques. Lyrical dance challenges choreographers and dancers to use motion to interpret music and express emotion. A lyrical dancer's movements attempt to show the meaning of the music. Lyrical jazz is a very passionate and emotional dance style. It portrays many emotions, and tells a story through every movement made. Students must wear leotard with stockings or dance pants, they may go bare foot or wear lyrical shoes.
Creative Movement- The Teacher will lead activities introduce the basic elements of dance including rhythm and time, movement qualities and dynamics, space, and use of the body. Students will be able to explore their own movement within the creative structure of the class while gaining confidence and body awareness. NO Jeans Please! Sneakers or Ballet Slippers must be worn.

Melissa Brown (Program Director)
Melissa began dancing and performing at the age of
five. She has trained extensively in Ballet, Tap, Jazz,
Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Street Dance. At the
age of fourteen Melissa received her first Professional
Job Starring as a dancer on the show “I am a
Celebrity”. For 7yrs she was the Director of A Step
Above Dance Center, in Spotswood, NJ, while she
continued to study with numerous well known
choreographers in NY and NJ. Melissa has attended
classes and workshops at Broadway Dance Center, Steps,
Underground Groove, and Princeton Ballet, which all
became a stepping stone for her to work with other
successful dancers and landed her a spot with the
Broadway Cast of “Miss Saigon”. Melissa has worked with
several Record Labels and Recording Artist’s, such as
“Ja Rule”, “FittyLove”, “Terell”, “Tina Sugandh”, “Lucas
Prata”, “Allie” and recently performed with Moldovian
worldwide recording artist “Dan Balan”.

Natalie Lugo
Natalie grew up in Haworth, NJ and began her training at
the age of three. She graduated with a BFA in Dance
Education from Montclair State University. Natalie has
trained and performed with choreographers such as Donna
Scro Gentile, Alberto Del Saz, Jay T Jenkins, Sean
Curran, and Roberta Mathes. Natalie was casted in a
video working with well known recording artist “Sean
Kingston” and has performed with Moldova’s worldwide
successful artist “Dan Balan”. Her most recent
performance was with Dance Artist “Allie”. She
specializes in Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Hip Hop. Her
class will advance your child’s dance abilities to their
next level as they experience learning the dance art in
a fun atmosphere. |

Cydny Pina
Cydny has grown
up as a competitive dancer since the age of seven. She
has intensely trained in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop,
Lyrical, and Modern, starting her studies in her
local studios in NJ and continuing her studies at
Broadway Dance Center in NYC. Cydny has many years of
experience in teaching all styles of dance to children
of all ages and levels. Cydny was the former Captain of
the NJ Ironmen and NHL NJ Devils Professional Dance
Teams from 2007-2009 where she had the opportunity to
choreograph and perform at all arena home games. She
also has performed as an Elite XC Dancer live on CBS at
the Prudential Center in Newark as well as various Main
Events Boxing matches in the arena. Outside of the
arena Cydny has performed with Moldova’s well know
singer/songwriter “Dan Balan” as well as numerous
performing artists around the country. Cydny has
currently started her own dance/modeling company, Venus,
a professional performance team that provides high
quality entertainment to various events. Cydny is very
excited to teach and inspire each child in her class to
grow as an artist. Cydny currently works with Dynamic
Talent Management and is available for Private
Lesson, Birthday Parties , and Motivational Party
Entertainment. |

Lisa Greenberg-
Lisa
has trained with the Kirov Ballet
Academy, NJ Governor’s School of the Arts, The New
Jersey School of Ballet, and has received
scholarships to the Paul Taylor, and Ballet
Hispanico summer intensives. She graduated from
Montclair State University with a BFA in Dance, and
received the Choreographic Excellence Award among
her class of 2010. There, she performed works by
Shapiro and Smith, Murray Lewis, Robert Battle, and
Donald McKayle, to name a few. She also
choreographed “Remember When…” and “Marino.”
“Marino” has been showcased at several festivals
in NY and NJ. It was selected to represent the
Northeastern region, at the Kennedy Center, for the
National Celebration of the American College Dance
Festival. Lisa is currently a member of Beings
Dance Company, and is a founding member of project:
Smith! She is delighted to be teaching at The Gym,
to share her passion and knowledge for the art of
movement. Lisa is also available for Private Dance
Lessons, Birthday Parties, and Motivational Party
Entertainment.
