THE GYM Story

When Robert Lazarowitz and Jeff Rivers originally opened THE GYM in Montvale in 2002, they had the vision of creating a gym experience that did not exist in Bergen County – one that would replicate the quality and customer service of a five-star hotel with state-of-the-art equipment, amenities, and spa-like services.

Glen Tobias then joined the team as a principal and the creator of the e3 Weight Management System – a nutrition program that addresses and promotes the importance of a healthy balance between exercise and nutrition.

Our original facility in Montvale boasted the very best in every Customer Service requirement. We embraced our clients from the time they arrived until the time they left.  It was not long until our reputation grew and our membership skyrocketed.  We decided that there were other needs elsewhere, too, for this same type of exclusive service.

So, four years after opening in Montvale, a second club was opened in Englewood, NJ. Shortly after, THE GYM’s first location outside of Bergen County opened in Armonk NY (Westchester County). All three clubs have become key parts of their communities due to Rob, Jeff and Glen’s persistence to stay true to the original vision – five-star service. We are proud that our exclusive environment serves these wonderful communities, and that these communities embrace us, too!
